Midsummer is where the fabric earns its keep. The dress is cotton voile lined in cotton voile — two layers of one of the lightest cotton weaves there is. Why straps that button beat straps that slide
Sliding adjusters creep over a season of wear and washing. Buttoned straps do not — the length you chose in June is the length you still have in August. It is a small construction decision that matters most on exactly the dress you wear most.
August: it still looks like a choice
By late summer, most daily dresses look like what they are. Block printing is the Isleton's defence: the pattern is applied by hand-carved block, and it gives the navy a depth that solid-dyed fabric does not have, so the dress reads considered even on its fortieth wear.
