Most of our dresses fit by one mechanism. The Amador uses three at once — wide accordion-pleat straps, a partly elasticized bust, and a side zip — and that hybrid construction is exactly why it fits the way it does. Understand the three parts and choosing a size takes a minute.
Mechanism one: straps with structure
The Amador is held up by wide accordion-pleat straps — folded, pleated bands rather than cords. Wide straps spread the dress's weight across the shoulder instead of concentrating it on a line, which you feel by the end of a long day, and the pleating gives them enough body to lie flat without digging or twisting. They are fixed rather than adjustable, which matters for the sizing advice below.
Mechanism two: the partly elastic bust
The top of the bust is partly elasticized — not a full stretch bodice like our smocked cuts, but a measured amount of give at the upper edge. It keeps the neckline sitting flush against you through movement while the rest of the bodice stays structured. Think of it as fine-tuning: it absorbs the small differences within a size, not the difference between sizes.
Mechanism three: the side zip
A side zipper closes the dress, which tells you the bodice is cut with real shape — pull-on dresses do not need zips. The zip entry is why the Amador looks composed at the bust where fully elastic dresses look gathered, and it is why your actual measurement matters here more than on most of the tiered wall.
Putting it together: how to size it
The run is XS to XL, US 0 through 18. Fit strictly by bust — the tiered skirt below fits every size identically, and the fixed straps mean you cannot tie your way out of a wrong call. Between sizes, take the larger: the partial elastic will snug the upper edge of a slightly roomy bodice, but nothing relieves a tight zip.
